As the sun began to set over Maples Crossing's field, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and camaraderie. Amesbury Lacrosse had organized an End of Year Skills and Drills Competition that promised thrills, laughter, and friendly competition. And as the designated photographer for the event, I was fortunate enough to capture all the action.
The competition was nothing short of thrilling, with players from different age groups coming together for a day of skillful play. The highlight of the event was the friendly competition where they played various games and celebrated the end of a season.

The event featured a variety of skill-showcasing games for the kids, including a gripping foot race where players skillfully cradled lacrosse balls while running across the field as fast as they could. The sight of these young athletes sprinting and skillfully cradling the ball was a testament to their dedication and love for the sport.
Among the many stations set up, there was a spot for accuracy allowing the players to show off their skills by aiming for a smaller goal inside the net. A power shot station, where players exhibited their power and accuracy by launching lacrosse balls at incredible speeds into the goal. As well as a station for wall ball drills where the players would try to catch their rebound as many times as they could without missing the ball challenging their finesse and coordination, and showcasing their well-honed skills.

The most entertaining event of the day for me was the timed competition to scoop the most lacrosse balls over the line and into the goal. Laughter and enthusiastic competition filled the air as kids eagerly chased after balls, making it a memorable spectacle.
As the dedicated (maybe more so foolish) photographer that I am, I was wholeheartedly committed to immortalizing every thrilling moment. I went above and beyond, positioning myself perilously close to the net during the accuracy shot competition. Little did I know that my dedication would lead to an unexpected encounter with a lacrosse ball to the stomach. While I might have earned a couple of warnings for my audacious location choice, the remarkable shots I captured made every twinge of discomfort completely worthwhile.

The day concluded on a high note with pizza and an award ceremony. It was heartwarming to see the players receive recognition for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. A special shoutout was reserved for the 8th graders who were moving up to the next level, marking a significant milestone in their lacrosse journey.
In the end, what I witnessed at the Amesbury Lacrosse End of Year Skills and Drills Competition was nothing short of beautiful. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, fun, and the undeniable passion these young athletes had for lacrosse. It was a privilege to document these moments, and I can't wait to see how these players continue to grow and excel in the years to come.
